Since 2011, we've helped more than 5 million visitors understand Medicare coverage.
By shopping with third-party insurance agencies, you may be contacted by a licensed insurance agent from an independent agency that is not connected with or endorsed by the federal Medicare program.
These agents/agencies may not offer every plan available in your area. Please contact Medicare.gov or 1-800-Medicare to get information on all options available.
A detailed explanation of non-coverage (DENC) is provided by a home health agency, skilled nursing facility, hospice, or outpatient rehabilitation facility if they determine you are no longer eligible for Medicare services, and you appeal that decision.
If you don’t appeal, you will not receive a DENC, and will instead only receive a Notice of Medicare Non-Coverage (NOMNC). The NOMNC will explain how to appeal (request an expedited determination). If the beneficiary chooses to do that, they will then receive a DENC.1
